Awarded to a full time graduate student at the Atlantic Veterinary College. Selection will be based on the candidate's application for admission to graduate school, including letters of reference. Primary criterion will be academic record, and secondary will be potential for success in their graduate program. Scholarship is non-renewable and applicants receiving stipend support totalling more than $20,000 annually are not eligible.

Granted to two (2) students studying in the Master of Arts in Island Studies (MAIS) program who have completed at least four of the core MAIS courses, are not full-time employees at UPEI, or will not be receiving other scholarships in excess of $2,000 at the time of application. Preference will be given to students in the thesis-based Master of Arts, Island Studies program. Gold Award minimum $1,400 and Silver Award minimum $800.

Beginning in the Fall of 2020, the Drs. Larry Hammell & Norma Guy Awards will be granted to five (5) graduate students in a thesis based program who are in financial need (https://files.upei.ca/scholarships/financial_need_form_graduate.pdf). Students must be within three years of commencing their Masters degree or within five years of commencing their Doctoral degree and be registered as a full time graduate student. Applicants will submit no more than one page outlining their area of greatest need. Preference will be given to graduate students who are the sole caregiver in their family unit. Additional criteria may be added if required. Recipients will be recommended by the Graduate Studies Advisory Committee and approved by the Senate Committee on Scholarships and Awards. The donor will not participate in the recommendation process. Granting of these awards will not reduce any other supports the graduate student may receive.

Granted on an annual basis to a student who is enrolled and in good standing in the Master of Science - Residency in Cardiology program in the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island. The successful candidate must have provided evidence of a promising career in veterinary cardiology with an interest in mitral heart valve disease and congestive heart failure. While recipients can receive this scholarship more than once, it is the donors' preference to distribute the scholarship to a wider variety of students when possible.
