Buddy the Eagle in his new home

In October 2021, bald eagle 450 was brought to the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island after it was injured in a presumed car accident. It was in critical shape, with spinal cord trauma among its injuries. Now the bird has a new life...and new fame.

Dr. Carmencita Yason, Diagnostic Virologist at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), received the 2023 Laboratorian of the Year Award at the Canadian Animal Health Laboratorians Network (CAHLN) annual meeting in early June.

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) and the Department of Psychology in the Faculties of Arts and Science at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) are recruiting veterinarians for a new research project.

Recently, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) conducted a Q&A piece with Dr. Carmencita Lake, doctor of veterinary medicine alumna, Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island, and CFIA veterinarian. 

The new MRI scanner arrived at AVC on Thursday, February 9. There to witness its arrival were, from left to right, Myrtle Jenkins-Smith, Dr. Greg Keefe, Dr. Heather Gunn-McQuillan, Dr. Anne Marie Carey, Honourable Catherine Callbeck, and Marven MacLean.

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) was a buzz of activity this morning as a new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner was lifted by crane into the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

After three years of waiting, Dr. John VanLeeuwen, interim dean, Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island, is in Kenya with Farmers Helping Farmers (FHF) and has three doctors of veterinary medicine (DVM) students in tow.
