Each year, the UPEI Co-operative Education Program recognizes its exceptional students and employers with the UPEI Co-op Awards. The winners of the 2024 awards were Rosie Legault, UPEI Science Co-op Student of the Year; Carol Edzeame, UPEI Arts Co-op Student of the Year; Diya Bubna, UPEI Business Co-op Student of the Year; and MRSB Group, Co-op Employer of the Year.

Dr. Rhonda Hamilton, a graduate of the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), is the winner of the College’s 2024 Atlantic Award of Excellence in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Care.

UPEI is saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Lawson Drake, UPEI Founder, former dean of science, retired professor and founding chair of the Department of Biology, and Prince of Wales College alumnus on April 23, 2025, in Charlottetown.

The fourth in this series of President's town halls in the 2025 winter semester, Let's 'talk' SDGs, will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025. For this town hall, there will be a broad introduction to the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) along with a discussion on how they relate to UPEI and the work that we do.

The University of Prince Edward Island will honour four outstanding leaders with honorary degrees during Convocation 2025, which will take place from May 13 to 16. Over 1,200 students are set to graduate over four ceremonies, which start at 10:00 am each day at the UPEI Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre.

The 2025 Asian Studies International Speaker Series talks, held on March 27 and April 3, were very successful, said Dr. Edward Chung, director of Asian Studies and the Centre for Korean Studies at UPEI.

The Fair Treatment Policy Redevelopment Committee emailed UPEI students, staff, and faculty on April 22, inviting them to provide feedback on the draft UPEI Harassment and Discrimination Policy through an online form.

Mallory Clark, a fourth-year Bachelor of Science (BSc) student majoring in Foods and Nutrition and dietetic intern at UPEI, has won the Leadership Development-Doris Badir Award from the Canadian Home Economics Foundation. The award of $1,000 recognizes undergraduate or graduate human ecology students who demonstrate excellent leadership skills in their community and the profession.
