Reflection is the mediator between knowledge and experience and is a vital skill for instructional professionals in order to continuously improve their teaching.

Does becoming a more reflective practitioner sound like a good New Year’s resolution? What if it could also help you achieve a professional or personal goal for 2018?

If so, then this workshop will be a great way to ensure that that resolution becomes a habit. Participants will be provided with exercises to practice reflection daily over a 30 day period while working towards the creation of at least one goal to achieve in 2018. This is a collaborative learning experience as participants will share between them and comment on their daily reflections. Offered by the E-Learning Office, this workshop consists of two face-to-face sessions (January 8 and February 7, 12:00-1:00 PM, Rm 265 Robertson Library) with the remainder of events, occurring between those sessions, online.

REGISTER early as space is limited for this event.

Student Affairs is beginning to organize UPEI’s Mental Health Week 2018 and we are seeking interested students, staff and faculty to join the planning committee.

As in past years, we hope to have a variety of people on the committee in order to reach the many areas of the UPEI community. Committee work will entail approximately 6 meetings between January 10 and March 7 in preparation for Mental Health Week scheduled for March 12 - 16, 2018. The planning committee will be responsible for brainstorming ideas to showcase the theme "Relationships Matter", setting the schedule and making the necessary contacts and bookings.

If you are interested, please email me (Anne Bartlett, ambartlett@upei.ca) and I will add you to our committee contact list. If you know of someone who would be interested and would represent your area well, please forward this message to them. Should you have any questions or require further information, please contact either Keith Lawlor (kjlawlor@upei.ca) or Anne Bartlett (ambartlett@upei.ca), co-chairs, MHW 2018.

Our first meeting will be held Wednesday, January 10, 8:30am - 9:30am in MH 215. Should you not be able to make it but would like to receive the minutes, please let us know.

Our latest version of Moodle now allows you to create drag & drop interactions. These can be created as part of a quiz or as their own stand alone activity. Instructors are invited to attend a workshop on how to create a basic drag & drop interaction. Delivered by the E-Learning Office, the workshop is offered on two separate occasions: Monday, January 15 1:00 to 2:00 pm or Thursday, January 18 1:00 to 2:00 pm. The location is Robertson Library, Room 265. Register

Reminder to winter course instructors that Moodle course sections are created with a 'hidden' status. As most courses are not ready for student viewing 14 days prior to the official start date, students cannot see the course until the 'hidden' status has been changed.

If you do not know how to open your course for students, click here for further instructions. There is also a link to these instructions on the front page of Moodle.

If you need any help opening your course, please email moodle@upei.ca.
