UPEI Health, Safety, and Environment will hold a building emergency plan session for chief wardens, floor wardens, and guardians on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 1:30 pm, in Bill and Denise Andrew Hall (AH), Room 142.
Please email hse@upei.ca if you are interested in attending.
Based on his new book, Time Flies: An Aerial History of Coastal and Ribbon Development on Prince Edward Island, Dr. Joshua MacFadyen will show that development in the coastal zone and along rural roads is accelerating on Prince Edward Island, just as the province is experiencing sustainability challenges in both areas. The talk will offer a unique combination of aerial photographs, historical maps, and more traditional sources, as it describes the province’s journey into modernity.

People speak of hope as if it is this delicate, ephemeral thing made of whispers and spider’s webs. It’s not. Hope has dirt on her face, blood on her knuckles, the grit of the cobblestones in her hair, and just spat out a tooth as she rises for another go. (@crowsfault)
The annual Shannon K. Murray Lecture on Hope and the Academy honours the outstanding contributions of Dr. Shannon Murray, recipient of the Christopher Knapper Lifetime Achievement Award by STHLE. The lecture series also affirms a central tenet in Shannon’s work: the vital practice of hope in charting the course of modern universities.

In mid-January, UPEI will host a roundtable of interdisciplinary graduate students to discuss the role of the social sciences, arts, and humanities in stimulating and advancing innovation in Canada.
This roundtable will be a conversation amongst interdisciplinary UPEI graduate students, and led by UPEI graduate students. Key points, themes, and insights from the conversation will be captured, and translated into a final report co-written by graduate students and UPEI staff, which will add UPEI’s graduate student voices to the national conversation in a final overall project report of all 12 participating post-secondary institutions.
We are seeking current UPEI graduate students to serve as facilitators (2), reporters (2), and participants (10).
Details of the event, expected time commitment, responsibilities, and compensation for each role are outlined in the Google form. Current graduate students from any program who are interested in any of the roles are invited to submit an expression of interest (EOI) via the Google form: Expression of Interest - Innovation by Design Roundtable
EOI deadlines:
- Facilitators and reporters: EOIs are due by January 1 at 11:59 pm
- Participants: EOIs are due by January 7 at 11:59 pm
For more information about the roundtable or any of the roles, please reach out to Kendra Mellish, graduate programs officer, at kmellish@upei.ca
