Professional Development Group Packages

The UPEI Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development offers week-long, intensive professional development group packages for organizations.

There is a growing demand for professional development and upskilling in a very fluid and demanding job market, as organizations look for professional development for their employees in a group, team-building setting.

These packages are pre-crafted, but the OCEPD is happy to customize these packages to ensure your organization’s professional development needs are met and exceeded. These packages allow a group of employees to spend five days immersed in an environment designed for optimal professional development and ensure any other needs for those organizations are met.

Why are these packages a good idea for your organization?

By having your organization take part in the OCEPD’s intensive weeklong professional development packages, not only do your employees experience the finest professional development available on Prince Edward Island and Atlantic Canada, but they are able to do so in an environment conducive to maximized retention of knowledge, theories and skills conveyed. Also, by being together for five days, there is an obvious team-building quality to the professional development, which is invaluable to internal growth within an organization. This professional development can take your organization to the next tier of knowledge and service.

"My colleagues and I had a wonderful training opportunity with the University of Prince Edward Island. We expressed our unique training needs for our positions such as Social Workers, Peer Support Workers, Client Service Officers and Managers. UPEI provided us with a holistic training opportunity whereby all training needs were met as well as offered a fantastic cultural experience with an elder, and a visit to a First Nation Reserve (Lennox Island) where we learned how to make traditional drums. The training was very interactive and fun! I highly recommend UPEI for any continuing professional development needs."

Requirements for International Groups Wanting Group Professional Development

The UPEI Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development welcomes groups and organizations from countries outside of Canada seeking group professional development.

However, due to the nature of logistics surrounding professional development with international groups, the following requirements are in place for any international groups undergoing professional development from the OCEPD:

  • A non-refundable payment of 30% of the quoted price, fully paid by two (2) months prior to the first professional development session.
  • All fees and dues fully paid twenty-one (21) days prior to the first professional development session.
  • Confirmation of obtainment of necessary visas and entry permits for all participants twenty-one (21) days prior to the first professional development session.
  • All other necessary information is given to the OCEPD in a timely fashion (determined by the OCEPD).

Failure to meet one or more requirements may result in the cancelation of the group professional development (and the non-refundable 30% of the quoted price will not be returned).

Please note that official letters of invitation, with the names and passport numbers of participants, will not be issued by the OCEPD until the contractual agreement between the organization requesting professional development and the OCEPD is signed.
