UPEI and Student Affairs are offering Mental Health First Aid training to all Students, Faculty and Staff. All fees and related costs are paid for in full by UPEI and The President.

The MHFA Canada program aims to improve mental health literacy, and provide the skills and knowledge to help people better manage potential or developing mental health problems in themselves, a family member, a friend or a colleague.

The upcoming session will be facilitated by James Reddin (one of UPEI's counselors) and will held on Friday November 20th, 9am-4pm, and Friday December 4th, 9am-4pm. Attendance on both days is mandatory for completion of the training.

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox preparing last Saturday went well.  We filled over 80 boxes that will be delivered by the end of the week. Some boxes remain in the Chaplaincy Centre if anyone was looking to help out but missed last week's deadline. School supplies, small stuffed toys, small t-shirts and cash donations will be received this week. Please contact Denise Bustard <dbustard@upei.ca> or Sister Sue <sukidd@upei.ca> for more details.  

The Animal Care Committee does not meet in December. The deadline for Animal Care Protocol Submissions -- new, renewal, or amendment -- is Friday, January 8, 2016 for the January meeting.

In this talk, Dr. Tim Goddard will address questions of internationalization on campus. What does an international education look like? How might domestic students globalize their degree? How can international students influence institutional life? What challenges face students, administrators, faculty, and staff who want to develop international awareness among all members of the campus community? Drawing upon the experience of the Faculty of Education as a case study, he will explore what an internationalized education might look like as well as the difficulties inherent in achieving such a vision.

Apple iPhone users: if you have updated or have a new iPhone device with the iOS 9 or 9.1, its feature Wi-Fi Assist automatically switches your device from Wi-Fi to cellular signal when Wi-Fi is weak, therefore your data usage will increase.

It is recommended you turn off this feature to minimize your data usage.

Instructions for turning off the WI-Fi Assist Feature are as follows:
Go into Settings.
Choose Cellular.
Scroll down to Wi-Fi Assist (close to bottom).
Switch the slider to the "off" position.

On November 14, 2015, IT Systems and Services (ITSS) had a major unit fail during a planned power maintenance shutdown. This resulted in the interruption of network and wireless services across the campus. ITSS was successful in obtaining a replacement unit allowing most systems to be up and running as of November 15, 2015; however, there may be sporadic issues with wireless and some network connections throughout the campus over the next few days.
