The AARMS 2017 summer school is intended for graduate students and promising undergraduate students from all parts of the world. Each participant is expected to register for at least two of the three courses. Each course consists of three hours lecture sessions per day for two weeks. These are graduate courses approved by University of Prince Edward Island and we will facilitate transfer credit to the extent possible.

This year's theme is Financial Mathematics and Actuarial Sciences and the summer school will take place July 3 – 28, 2017 at the University of Prince Edward Island.

The UPEI Office of Recuitment and International Relations is looking for homestay families for visiting international students from Japan, Korea, and China for periods of two to six weeks this summer. Homestay is an important part of students' experiences here and it can be a great international experience for your family. IT Systems and Services (ITSS) has launched new web pages to create a more interactive and user-friendly environment with simplified content and easier access to the services offered by our department. As well, there is a new info site in the myUPEI Portal.

Highlights of our site include:

  • FAQ and self service section
  • A simplified help desk request form
  • An ITSS services catalog
  • New forms for IT system access and computer purchase requests (located in our myUPEI info site)
  • Training materials for using Gmail Apps and Microsoft Office

Soup for the Soul uses fresh vegetables, grown VERY locally.  During the growing season, we are looking for volunteers to water and weed our plants.
Out for a walk with colleagues or a family event? Give 15 minutes of water—it's good for everyone!

The Institute of Island Studies welcomes Dr. Stan Brunn, Professor Emeritus from the University of Kentucky, to speak on “The Changing World Language Map: A Megaproject in Progress” in UPEI’s SDU Main Building Faculty Lounge on Tuesday, June 27, at 10:30 am.

Dr. Brunn will be speaking about his latest book project on the world’s languages called The Changing World Language Map. One of the most well-respected cultural geographers in North America, Dr. Brunn is widely published, including serving as editor of the five-volume, 3200+ page The Changing World Religion Map. As part of his presentation, he invites interested parties to contribute to the project and is willing to take questions on the current state of US politics.

Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend!

Don MacEwen, a professor in the School of Sustainable Design Engineering (SSDE), will officially retire on June 30 after an amazing 40 years of service to UPEI. The engineering faculty and staff would like to invite the university community to a retirement get-together for Don on Thursday, June 29 between 2:00 and 4:00 pm in the SDU Engineering Lecture Hall (SSDE 128B). Cake and light refreshments will be served.

The National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism is marked every year on June 23 in Canada to mark the anniversary of the bombing of Air India Flight 182 off the coast of Ireland. On this day, flags across Canada, including at UPEI, are flown at half-mast to honour the victims of the bombing, as well as other acts of terrorist violence that have taken lives.
