Faculty Development Office
Broadly speaking, the Faculty Development Office (FDO) is available to all faculty for consultations about any matters related to teaching, including also consultation about tenure and promotion files, grant applications, and award nominations. FDO’s Program Coordinator is happy to read and comment on such files, applications, and nominations. The FDO also organizes presentations by UPEI faculty and visiting speakers on matters of pedagogy.
The FDO houses a library of several hundred books related to pedagogy. These books are available for loan to all faculty members. The Program Coordinator is happy to locate materials on any specific subject and recommend them to interested faculty members.
The Program Coordinator is UPEI’s representative on the Association of Atlantic Universities Coordinating Committee on Faculty Development. The coordinator attends the meetings of this committee each year and will be a member of the adjudicating committee for the Association of Atlantic Universities teaching and educational leadership awards.
The Program Coordinator is also a member of the Open Textbook Working Group, the multi-institutional Scientific Writing Committee (which involves participants from the public school system, from Holland College, and from UPEI), and the Indigenous Education Advisory Circle.
