Convocation

Welcome to UPEI's Convocation website!

Every spring, the University of Prince Edward Island holds Convocation ceremonies to celebrate and award degrees and diplomas to its graduating students.

Unfortunately, UPEI Convocation ceremonies that were scheduled for May 7 and 8, 2020, were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, UPEI recognized and celebrated our Class of 2020 in new ways. The UPEI Senate met on Friday, May 8, 2020, to confirm that graduates met the qualifications for their credentials, and on Friday, May 15, the list of graduates and senior class award winners posted to a special celebratory web page on upei.ca. Graduates were mailed a package including their parchment, alumni pin, and any senior class awards they received.

At their October 2020 meeting, the University of Prince Edward Island Senate unanimously voted in favour of changing the dates for Convocation 2021 to later in May. These new dates will allow the University to better incorporate public health guidance as well to invite graduates from the Class of 2020 to participate along with the Class of 2021.

Convocation ceremonies will be held as follows:

May 14, 2021–Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (pm)
May 26, 2021–Faculty of Arts (am); Faculty of Education (pm)
May 27, 2021–Faculty of Business (am); Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (pm)
May 28, 2021–Faculty of Nursing (am); Faculty of Science (pm)

Both undergraduate and graduate degrees for a particular Faculty will be presented at each ceremony.

More information about the time, location, and number of guests per student will be forwarded to the Class of 2020 and the Class of 2021 as soon as it becomes available. Read more
