Beginning in the 2025–2026 academic year, returning international students may apply to the UPEI Scholarships, Awards, and Financial Aid Office for an Emergency International Student Bursary.

Emergency International Student Bursaries are open to all returning international students, once per year, who find themselves in unexpected and urgent financial need.

Applicants must demonstrate ongoing efforts to make payments toward any outstanding financial balance with the university. Applicants must attest to the nature and extent of unplanned financial need including circumstances resulting in that need along with relevant official documents. Circumstances may include (but are not limited to) the death or serious illness of an immediate family member, a natural or other type of disaster resulting in loss of financial support, or other unforeseeable expense or loss of financial support. Should you find yourself in unexpected and urgent financial need, please complete the application form to request this assistance. Your application will be reviewed by the UPEI Office of Scholarships, Awards, and Financial Aid and, should it be approved, you could receive up to $2,000 through this bursary, which will be placed on your UPEI financial account.
