Hardware Recommendations

Online and hybrid courses may have synchronous (live) online meetings. While many laptop computers are equipped with a camera, speakers, and a microphone, using headphones with an attached microphone and a webcam for these sessions is recommended.

Internet Connectivity

Recommended for primarily text-based online courses:

Internet Download Speed: 1.5 Mbps
Internet Upload Speed: 1.0 Mbps

Recommended for media-rich online courses:

Internet Download Speed: 5.0 Mbps
Internet Upload Speed: 1.0 Mbps

Recommended for real-time communications within a course (e.g. Adobe Connect, Google Meet)

Internet Download Speed: 5.0 Mbps
Internet Upload Speed: 1.0 Mbps

Please note that, while you may be paying for the download/upload speeds as per the  recommendations above, your actual speeds may vary. Note that these are the minimum speeds required for your own use -- if other people are using your Internet connection at the same time, it will reduce the speeds that you can achieve.
