UPEI sent a message to students via their @upei.ca email accounts in response to the statement that the UPEI Student Union issued on March 16, 2023.

In a message to UPEI students sent by email on March 20, UPEI Student Affairs outlined supports, activities, and events for students during the faculty strike.  

In this latest message to the campus community, the University advised students that it expects the UPEI Faculty Association (UPEI FA) bargaining committee will commence a labour disruption on Monday morning, meaning that all faculty, librarians, sessional instructors, and clinical nursing instructors will be on strike. This will affect all classes and students across the University.

In today's Community Bulletin, the University shares information to help plan for what to expect if the UPEI Faculty Association takes its members on strike.

The University remains committed to using all means to achieve a collective agreement with the UPEI Faculty Association (UPEI FA) that is consistent with other primarily undergraduate universities in the region and is in the best interests of our students.

UPEI announced today that the University and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE 1870), representing UPEI support staff, have reached a tentative agreement.

The latest Community Bulletin was sent to UPEI students and employees on March 13, providing an update on the University's bargaining team's efforts to bring about a resolution with the UPEI FA.

The UPEI Faculty Association (UPEI FA), Bargaining Unit #1 (representing faculty, librarians, sessional instructors and clinical nursing instructors) plans to strike on March 20 if a collective agreement is not reached by the deadline of March 19.
