Collective Bargaining
Almost all universities across Canada have collective agreements with their faculty and staff, and negotiations are a routine part of the life cycle of collective agreements. The University of Prince Edward Island has collective agreements with five different unions (six bargaining units).
Our approach to the collective bargaining process is to reflect UPEI’s values and achieve the goals outlined in our Strategic Plan. UPEI is committed to being an institution that embodies its values: Academic Freedom; Accountability and Integrity; Pursuit of Excellence; Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and a Sense of Belonging; and Reconciliation. They will serve to guide our decision-making and actions as we move forward together.
