UPEI Women's Rugby to play in AUS final; clinch spot at nationals

For the first time in program history, the St. FX X-Women will not be playing in the AUS Rugby Final, and they have the UPEI Panthers to thank for that.

The Panthers denied the X-Women's opportunity to extend their winning streak Thursday, October 20, in a hard-fought 14-12 win. In the process, UPEI clinched their first finals berth since 2006 and will face the Acadia Axewomen on Wednesday, October 26, in Wolfville at 6 pm for the conference title. The Panthers also secured a spot at the U SPORTS Women's Rugby Championship hosted by the University of Victoria.

SEASON PREVIEW: Men's Basketball Panthers look to go from playoff team to championship contender in 2022–23

The UPEI Men’s Basketball Panthers accomplished many firsts in 2021–22 under Darrell Glenn’s leadership. The team finished with their best record in five years, fielded an all-star, and earned a playoff spot, then went on to play in the AUS conference finals.

Ultimately, they did not come away with a championship, but this year they are looking to close the deal and bring a title back to Charlottetown for the first time in 20 years.
