Our English Language Centre works with students looking to meet English language requirements of UPEI programs, and can create customized English programs for groups of students.

English Academic Preparation (EAP) is an intensive language program for students who do not meet the UPEI language requirements but have conditional admission to a degree program. Our goal is to help students begin their degree program as soon as possible.

We're located in Robertson Library (Building #15 on the UPEI Map), Room 225.

Homestay

UPEI’s Homestay program is managed by UPEI’s English Language Centre. Host homes are carefully selected, and families interviewed to ensure a good fit for both student-visitors and host families. An on-campus Homestay coordinator is also available to assist students and host families should any difficulties arise. A Homestay is more than renting a room; host families welcome students as members of the family and are eager to assist in learning English and sharing Canadian culture.

Customized English Programs

UPEI offers customized English-language programs for groups to meet diverse language-learning requirements such as: summer language camps for students, programs for teachers of English as a foreign language desiring advanced specialization, students preparing for a 2+2 program, English majors requiring an immersion experience, and students taking a gap year to improve English skills.
