Sustainable Transportation

Welcome to our Sustainable Transportation Resource Hub! At UPEI, we’re committed to promoting walking, biking, and other non-motorized transit methods as healthy, sustainable, and accessible ways to move around campus.

Why choose sustainable transportation?

  • Improve your physical and mental well-being
  • Reduce your carbon footprint
  • Save money on parking and fuel
  • Explore campus in a more connected and enjoyable way

Bike and scooter resources

  • Scooters: Epic Scooters is located on campus.
  • New enclosed bike rack and shelter:
    • Located outside the Performing Arts Centre and Residence, the new shelter can accommodate 15 to 20 bikes and provides a safe and convenient option for students, faculty, and staff who choose cycling as a means of transportation to and from campus. Please visit Security Services in the Central Utility Building, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, with your campus ID card to obtain access. Bicycles are stored at the owner’s risk. For added security, we strongly encourage all users to lock their bicycles while using the rack.

Safety and etiquette

  • Always wear a helmet and use lights at night
  • Obey campus speed limits and stop signs
  • Yield to pedestrians and respect shared paths

Commuter support services

  • Free access to showers and lockers at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre (UPEI students, staff, and faculty).

Let’s make our campus a cleaner, healthier, and more connected place — one step or pedal at a time!
