Types of Concerns

Personal issues are things many of us will face from time to time in our lives. They are a normal part of life; but when they happen too often, too fast, or when we are already challenged by other things in life, they can feel overwhelming.

Counselling can help by offering support, a safe place to explore the challenges and issues, and by helping you develop skills, strategies and attitudes that will help you get through these challenges.

Some typical personal issues we see in counselling include:

  • Relationships and family
  • Grief and loss
  • Stress and academic concerns
  • Self-esteem and motivation
  • Trauma and abuse
  • Depression
  • Eating disorders
  • Anxiety and panic
  • Substance abuse
  • Self-harm and suicidal thoughts
  • Other mental health concerns

Mental Health is something everyone should monitor and be aware of. For some, whether because of the degree of stressors in their lives or biological pre-disposition, patterns of response to lives challenges become as much, or more, of a problem as the stressors themselves. Whether your response includes medication, therapy, or a combination of the two, mental health issues are something you shouldn’t face alone.
