DVM Admission Timeline

All applicants to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program are responsible to ensure that required materials are on file by the appropriate deadline; incomplete applications will not be reviewed. While the provisions of the UPEI Academic Calendar document will ordinarily be applied as stated, UPEI reserves the right to change any provision listed herein, including but not limited to residency and academic requirements for admission, without notice to individual applicants. Every effort will be made to inform applicants of any changes.

Atlantic Canadian applicant requirements and deadlines

October 15, 2020

  • Create a UPEI application account (if you have not already done so) and submit the on-line application and fee.
  • Submit the Atlantic Canadian Residency form and supporting documents.
  • Submit the Animal/Veterinary Related Experience form.
  • Submit final official transcripts for courses you were enrolled in or planned to enrol in when you applied to the DVM program, if they have not already submitted.
  • Official GRE scores must be received if they have not already been submitted. The institutional code is “0941 U PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND.”

For Atlantic Canadian Applicants only: Please note that GRE results received after October 15 will only be accepted if

  1. the test was taken prior to January 1, 2021
  2. the official mailed hardcopy result is received by February 28, 2021

February 1, 2021

  • Fall semester transcripts for courses in progress must be received, if applicable.

May 3, 2021

  • Interview and W-SAB testing for applicants who rank highly based on academic achievement occurs on-site at the Atlantic Veterinary College.

June 1, 2021

  • Winter semester transcripts for courses in progress must be received. This applies only to those invited to interview.

International applicant requirements and deadlines

International applicants, including applicants from the United States, must first apply online through the Veterinary Medical College Application Service (VMCAS) operated by the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges by the VMCAS deadline (see below). Applicants will be contacted to remit the processing fee.

September 15, 2020

  • Complete the VMCAS application.
  • GRE scores must be received. The institutional code is “7877 U PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND VMCAS.”
  • Applicants will be contacted by UPEI regarding payment of the processing fee.

November 21, 2020

  • Interview and W-SAB testing for applicants who rank highly based on academic achievement occurs on-site at the Atlantic Veterinary College

February 1, 2021

  • Fall semester transcripts for courses in progress must be received, if applicable.

June 1, 2021

  • Winter semester transcripts for courses in progress must be received, if applicable.
