Ten (10) Month Term Position

Applications are invited for a 10-month term position at the Assistant Professor rank with the Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program in clinical psychology, and the broader Department of Psychology, at the University of Prince Edward Island. Prince Edward Island is part of the traditional and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

This position is in clinical child psychology, and involves primarily graduate with some undergraduate teaching, with the possibility of clinical supervision.

Our PsyD program (https://www.upei.ca/programs/doctor-of-psychology) welcomed its fifth cohort of students in 2023 and is now accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association. The program is built on a scholar-practitioner model, is infused with a critical lens, and promotes methodological pluralism and the integration of theory, research, and practice across individual and cultural diversities. The Department recognizes the importance of understanding individuals from their cultural, social and community contexts, and thus, is committed to training professionals who can engage helpfully with people who have been neglected or suppressed. The program is also home to the UPEI Psychology Training Clinic which serves as the primary training facility for students in the first two years of the program before students transition to external placements in the community.

Qualifications

Qualifications include a completed doctoral degree in Clinical or Counselling Psychology including engagement with clinical child psychology; evidence of successful teaching; evidence of scholarly achievement commensurate with rank; eligibility for registration with the PEI Psychologists Registration Board as a Psychologist or Psychologist Candidate.
