Graduate Tutorial Assistant - Faculty of Education
$27.81 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay, as per PSAC Local 86000
May 25 – October 16, 2026
The Faculty of Education is seeking one Graduate Student with a strong pedagogical background in mathematics education to support students in mathematics at the primary/elementary level.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide tutoring in mathematics education up to the grade 10 level
- Attend lessons on Mondays and Wednesdays (ED-4220-1) from 8:30am to 11:15am, May 25 to June 25, 2026 and Mondays and Wednesdays (ED-4230-1) from 12:30pm to 3:15pm, September 2 to October 14, 2026.
- Facilitate tutorial sessional Fridays from 2:30pm to 3:15pm May 29 to June 19, 2026 and Friday afternoons from September 11 to October 9, 2026
- Liaise with instructor to identify student needs
- In collaboration with the instructor, create self-study and self-assessment resources
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate Student in good standing, with preference given to graduate students of the Faculty of Education
- Expertise in teaching mathematics in the K to 12 system
- Background and expertise in course content in courses such as Math for Teachers and/or primary/elementary mathematics methods
- Experience in teaching in higher education is an asset
- Be available during the day or after school to meet with students
- Prior experience as a tutorial assistant in mathematics is an asset
This position is covered by a Collective Agreement between the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the University of Prince Edward Island. Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students.
