The School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for sessional instructors during the forthcoming Fall 2026 semester. These positions are subject to final budgetary approval.
Please note: the courses offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.
AMS 1910 – Introduction to Data Science
This course provides an introduction to data analysis, artificial intelligence and business intelligence tools, equipping students with the skills to explore, analyze, and communicate data-driven insights effectively. Students will learn to manipulate datasets, perform basic exploratory data analysis, and build interactive dashboards using widely available platforms. The course emphasizes hands-on practice with real-world datasets, focusing on data cleaning, visualization, and predictive modelling. Students will develop the ability to tell compelling stories with data, create professional-grade reports, and communicate actionable insights to diverse audiences. No prior coding experience is required.
Three lecture hours per week
Time: TTh 8:30 - 9:45AM
CS 4350 – Computer Graphics Programming
This course introduces the student to the principles and tools of applied graphics programming including graphical systems, input and interaction, object modelling, transformations, hidden surface removal, and shading and lighting models. Languages, graphics libraries and toolkits, and video game engines are introduced, as well as relevant graphics standards.
Three lecture hours per week.
Time: T 7:00 - 9:45PM
Qualifications:
Successful applicants should hold a master's degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science/Computational Sciences or a related field, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience. Applicants should have experience in teaching, research or industry practice related to the course content.
