English Academic Preparation (EAP) Program Instructor - Work Integrated Learning and English Language Centre
$34.62 per hour + 4% vacation pay
April 27 to August 28, 2020 with a possible extension into the Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 semesters (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements)
The UPEI English Academic Preparation Program is seeking qualified individuals to teach in its short-term customized and general undergraduate programs during the 2020 spring and summer sessions. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching ESL/EAL and academic English (speaking, reading, writing, and listening) from high beginner to advanced proficiency level
- Late afternoon or evening teaching required for some courses
- Formative and summative assessment
- Curriculum development & lesson planning
- Participation in staff meetings
- Holding office hours to provide student assistance and feedback
- Participation and organization of extra-curricular activities
- Facilitation of some special events and/or workshops
- Upholding the policies and regulations of the UPEI EAP program
- Other duties as assigned by the Managers
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Education
- Master’s degree in Education, Teaching English as a Second Language, or a related field
- Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language
- Teaching experience in ESL/EAP programming (oral communications, reading comprehension, writing)
- Demonstrated excellence in oral and written English proficiency
