The Applied Human Sciences Department at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for sessional instructors during the forthcoming Winter 2027 semester. These positions are subject to final budgetary approval.

Please note: Courses listed below will be taught in person unless otherwise specified as online.

Course times reflect the current schedule and may be subject to some flexibility.


FN-1120 Food Systems and Planetary Health (3 Credits)

This course will introduce students to the concept of food systems at the local, regional, and global levels. Students will examine and reflect on critical food system issues, including challenges with food production, processing, marketing, food consumption, and waste, with a focus on sustainable food systems and the planetary health eating pattern. Three lecture hours.

M/W/F 10:30 AM – 11:20 AM


FN-2120 Introductory Nutrition II (3 Credits)

This course is a continuation of FN 2110 with a focus on water, major minerals, and trace minerals; requirements and food sources of these nutrients; role of these nutrients in chronic disease prevention; nutritional needs across the lifespan, and the selection of an adequate diet. Three lecture hours.

M/W/F 9:30 AM – 10:20 AM


Qualifications:

Applicants must hold an MSc or PhD in a field related to the course content, or a BSc with relevant professional designation and/or experience. Being a Registered Dietitian (RD) will be considered an asset for teaching these courses. Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty members of the Academic unit.
