The Faculty of Business at the University of Prince Edward Island has openings for sessional instructors for the Fall 2026 semester. Full-time and term contract Faculty Members are encouraged to apply and may be considered if there are no members of the Sessional Roster who have Right of Recall or applied for the position and have met the qualifications. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

UNDERGRADUATE TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES:


BUS 2120-04 Business Presentations & Communications- T/Th 4:00 pm -5:15 pm

This course develops students' presentation skills in a business context. The course emphasizes professionalism and the use of evidence and analysis to support recommendations in order to make a compelling case. Three hours a week


BUS 2410-02 Management Information Systems – M/W 5:30 pm-6:45 pm

This course provides an introduction and understanding of the value and uses of information systems for business operations and management decision-making. It concentrates on providing an understanding of the tools and basic terminology needed to understand information systems and their role in the business environment. Topics include information systems concepts, a review of information technology concepts, the fundamentals of e-business, planning and development of information systems, and the management of these systems. Three hours a week.


BUS 2880-03 Evidence-Based Management – T/Th 2:30 pm -3:45 pm

Evidence-based management considers ethics and stakeholder concerns, practitioner judgment and expertise, local data and experimentation, and principles derived through formal research to inform decision-making. This course introduces students to qualitative and quantitative perspectives and methods for conducting and evaluating business research. Students develop information literacy as they learn to question assumptions and think critically about the nature of evidence and claims made about organizational phenomena. Problems in and prospects for improved managerial decision-making are included.

BUS 3710-01 Entrepreneurship & New Ventures - T/Th 1:00 pm -2:15 pm

This course is a study of the nature and background of entrepreneurship and the process involved from idea to opportunity to new business venture. Students are expected to study the environment in which entrepreneurship flourishes from both the perspective of the entrepreneur and of the economic system. The generation of ideas and opportunities is discussed, as well as the subsequent transformation of an opportunity into a formal business plan. The course concludes with an examination of the process of implementation of the business plan and the management of the new business that results. Extensive case analysis is required. Three hours a week


BUS 3720-01 Industrial Relations – Thursdays 5:30 pm -8:15 pm

In this course, students study the relationship between the labour force and management in the modern organization. Particular attention is given to the nature and role of trade unionism and collective bargaining. A basic objective of the course is to explore the conditions for effective industrial relations in the process of management. Three hours a week


BUS 4810-01 Integrated Marketing Communication (Web)

This course examines how consumer decision-making processes form the basis for promotions. In this context, the course deals with principles for developing advertising campaigns, trade and consumer promotion techniques, and methods for relating optimal advertising and a consistent message across all audiences while maximizing budgets. Three hours a week


UNIV 3100-01 Entrepreneurship Venture Development – T/Th 8:30 am-9:45 am

Entrepreneurship Venture Development immerses students in the principles essential for entrepreneurial success, with a focus on shaping business opportunities within a customer-focused framework. Through dynamic and collaborative approaches, participants will delve into the strategic planning of ventures across various sectors, including the unique dynamics of non-profit ventures. This program encourages ideation, prototyping/modeling, and the development of innovative solutions to authentic business challenges. Working in interdisciplinary teams, students will tackle challenges posed by external partners or propose their own, all while developing entrepreneurial acumen within a business-centric framework. This project-based course explores the strategic dimensions of entrepreneurship, embracing business opportunities, and shaping the future of innovative solutions across diverse sectors

 

Qualifications for teaching Undergraduate courses:

Successful applicants will have a minimum of a Master's level degree, along with demonstrated expertise in the course subject or equivalent, with a combination of qualifications and experience. Priority will be given to applicants with a relevant PhD.

For courses in Accounting, applicants must be a practicing CPA.

For BUS 2880, preference will be given to candidates with a PhD in a relevant discipline and demonstrated experience with evidence-based management.

Also note, priority will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Faculty of Business Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty Members of the Academic unit.
