Graduate Research Assistant - Institute of Island Studies - Faculty of Arts
$27.81 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay, as per PSAC Local 86000

Dr. Laurie Brinklow and Andrew Halliday (co-PIs) are seeking a Graduate Research Assistant to support their research project, entitled “Land Use Governance in Globally Comparable Island Jurisdictions for Prince Edward Island, Canada.”
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the co-PIs, the student will:
- Help collect and classify secondary data (historical archives, media reports, policy reports, governmental grey literature, and other relevant documents) regarding land use governance and policies in comparable island jurisdictions for PEI
- Code and categorize for preliminary analysis
- Compiling and drafting of research outputs
- Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Enrolled in the MAIS graduate program at UPEI
- Background in political science and/or social sciences
- Excellent writing and synthesis capabilities
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English
- Highly motivated and responsible
- The ability to work independently and efficiently
- Access to a computer, internet, Office Suite (or equivalent), and text-management/coding software
- Successful completion of IST 6150 is an asset
- Prior education or professional experience in land use or political science is an asset
This position is covered by a Collective Agreement between the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the University of Prince Edward Island. Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students.
