The Department of Social Development and Housing is seeking Child and Youth Care Workers on a casual basis. 

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Working in a team approach to implement plans of care for children/youth, both in community/family-based environments and residential care, with specific measurable treatment and outcome goals established;
  • Assisting parents/guardians and others in dealing with children/youth of highest needs and facilitating and directing consistent contact with significant others and modelling healthy relationships;
  • Working from a philosophy that ensures placement stability while also supporting children/youth in the community and their restoration back to the community as soon as possible;
  • Assessing recreational and social needs of the children/youth and responding with appropriate activities, both within outreach and residential settings;
  • Providing direct service to children/youth and support to Child Protection Services;
  • Participating in the maintenance of the centre, including children/youth in completing chores as appropriate, providing homework support, tutoring, and supervision to children/youth at the centre, home, or alternate education site as part of the plan of care;
  • Working closely with other agencies to meet the needs of children/youth receiving a service and making the best use of all available resources on behalf of the child/youth;
  • Completing required documentation and incident reporting; and other duties as required.
