"UPEI is equipping me to make a greater impact in patient care."
What brought you to UPEI? Why did you choose to study here?
I am originally from Kerala in India but I was raised in Qatar, where I grew up for 26 years. Growing up between these two cultures shaped my identity, values, and worldview, giving me a deep appreciation for diversity and community. I travelled from Qatar to the University of Prince Edward Island for the Paramedicine degree program. I had always wanted to earn a bachelor’s degree from a Canadian university, especially since my Advanced Care Paramedic certification was completed through a Canadian college in Qatar. After researching several programs and meeting a UPEI representative who visited our college, I felt strongly that UPEI offered the right combination of academic quality, student support, and professional alignment. That made my decision clear—this was the place for me.
What kinds of support have you received as a student from UPEI students, staff, and UPEI faculty members?

My classmates were always willing to study together and encourage one another during challenging labs and lectures. UPEI faculty, including academic advisors, helped me stay organized with course planning and administrative requirements. Paramedicine faculty provided clear guidance, constructive feedback, and mentorship. Their teaching and support helped me grow academically and gain confidence in my clinical abilities.
