The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Office is thrilled to announce that UPEI is now an Employer Partner of the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI). This will provide us with a number of benefits, including access to online training for all faculty, staff, and students, that will support us on our equity, diversity and inclusion journey.

What is CCDI?

CCDI is a national charity established in 2013 with the commitment of building a more inclusive Canada through research and education. Their mission is to encourage workplaces to become “inclusive, free of prejudice and discrimination, and to generate the awareness, dialogue, and action for people to recognize that diversity is an asset and not an obstacle.”

Why is UPEI partnering with CCDI?

An Employer Partnership with CCDI helps to advance UPEI’s goal of building an open, accessible, and welcoming community, where all people are treated fairly. As highlighted in the UPEI Strategic Plan (2018–2023), and in keeping with our commitment in the EDI Strategy, this partnership will allow us move forward with providing on-demand training options for members of the University community.

What does this mean for you?

Our partnership with CCDI will provide all UPEI students, faculty, and staff with access to the following benefits:

  • Unlimited access to pre-recorded and live monthly webinars
  • Unlimited access to the CCDI Knowledge Repository, curated with 1000+ documents, reports, toolkits, templates, and other content
  • Unlimited access to Community of Practice Events

UPEI community members can take part in diversity and inclusion webinars or delve deeper with detailed content on specific topics through the Knowledge Repository’s recorded webinars or reports.

Register for access

You can find out more information or get access by self-registering here. All you need is your recognized University of Prince Edward Island email address.

As we’ve gained access to this wealth of knowledge, we would like to share one of our favorite quotes from Nelson Mandela with you: “Education is the most powerful weapon with which we can change the world.” Every member of the campus community has a role to play in creating a welcoming and inclusive campus environment. We encourage all members of the campus community to review the UPEI CCDI webpage for more information, and learn more about this opportunity, and how it relates to you.
