AVC Summer Continuing Education Event
The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) will offer a one-day continuing education (CE) course on Saturday, August 6, 2016, for veterinarians, registered veterinary technologists, and animal health technicians.
The program will feature three CE sessions, as well as an optional tour of the College’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Those who complete the course will receive five CE hours.
Dr. Chantale Pinard, DVM, MSc, Dip ACVO, will give a session entitled “The ‘red’ eye and management of corneal ulcers.” Dr. Pinard graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) in 1993 with her doctor of veterinary medicine degree and completed her comparative ophthalmology residency with a Master’s in Clinical Sciences at Kansas State University in 2002. She is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. She is associate professor of ophthalmology in OVC’s Clinical Services Department. She is a guest lecturer at AVC, and provides clinical rotation locums for the College’s fourth-year students.
Dr. Charlie Pye, DVM, DVSc, Dip ACVD, will give a presentation called “Pathophysiology of itching and the use of Apoquel.” Dr. Pye graduated from AVC in 2009 with her doctor of veterinary medicine degree and then did a one-year internship at Western College of Veterinary Medicine. After completing her internship, she did a three-year residency in dermatology at OVC, graduating in 2013 with her doctor of veterinary science degree. A diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology, she is a member of the dermatology team at the Guelph Veterinary Speciality Hospital and a guest lecturer at AVC.
Andrea Jack, AHT, RVT, will present “Blood donor programs: Being private practice prepared.” Andrea Jack coordinates the animal blood donor program at AVC, and works in the College’s Small Animal Hospital.
