|Description:||Granted to a with superior academic achievement entering their third year of undergraduate study majoring in Accounting, English, or Sustainable Design Engineering at the University of Prince Edward Island. The receipient will be selected based on academic standing.|
|Background:||Robert Easton CPA, CMA generously established this scholarship in 2019 to support students at the University of Prince Edward Island. A former public servant and wheelchair track athlete, he competed for Canada from the mid 1970's until his retirement from competition following the 1988 Seoul Paralympics. Recognition for Robert Easton's contribution and athletic achievements includes induction to the Canadian Paralympic Hall of Fame (2013) and Alberta Sports Hall of Fame (2000). In 1992, he established the Easton Family Scholarship at the University of Alberta to endow an annual scholarship. Robert Easton feels the determination; discipline and skills gained from youth involvement in sport and interest in reading, science and the arts impacts one's goals, education options and future career choices. The UPEI scholarship reflects his interests, Island connections and is part of a quiet effort to "give-back" to communities.|
