Welcome Week

Hey Panthers!

Looking to connect with your peers, get to know your campus, and indulge in some fun activities at the beginning of your academic year?

Welcome Week is THE opportunity for you!

Welcome  Week  (September 4–13, 2026) is a  week  full of activities at the beginning of each Fall semester to  welcome  new, incoming, and returning Panthers to the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI). This week is especially designed to allow new Panthers to build connections, learn about UPEI services, spaces and resources, meet your faculty and staff members, while also getting to know Charlottetown, and PEI!

If you're an incoming student, be sure to register for Welcome Week!

Welcome  Week  aims at helping you get acquainted with your campus while getting to meet the people who strive hard and care about making your journey at UPEI exciting, wonderful, and memorable.

Top 10 Reasons to Attend Welcome Week

Here are the Top 10 reasons to be at Welcome Week:

  1. Wander around campus with your Welcome Week Crew, so that you're not lost looking for buildings on Day 1 of classes.
  2. Energy-packed events all Week long for new and returning students!
  3. Laughs, memories, and friendships- you could meet people from your program, your residence, and maybe even your new best friend.
  4. Connect with staff, faculty, and returning students. You can ask them about classes, campus, or where to find the best snacks.
  5. Opportunities! You can meet people and services that could be looking to support or maybe even hire you!
  6. Meet Panthers from worldwide, where you'll be part of a diverse and welcoming community.
  7. Explore Charlottetown like a local. Even if you are from PEI, you can learn about the spots that university students love the most.
  8. Win cool prizes and swag- you never know what free stuff you'll walk away with.
  9. Experience Campus Life before the stress kicks in, the perfect "soft launch" into university without the pressure of assignments.
  10. Engage in traditions, sporting events, and unforgettable memories- it's your first Panther Pride moment.
  11. Kickstart your UPEI journey in the best way possible with Welcome Week—it's a big deal!

Okay so that was actually 11 reasons, but the first letter of each reason spells Welcome Week vertically!

Meet Your Coordinators

Hasna Mady

Hi everyone! My name is Hasna Mady, and I am one of the 2026 Welcome Week Coordinators. I am passionate about creating meaningful connections and helping students feel welcomed, supported, and excited about their university experience. After serving as a Welcome Week Leader last year, I am thrilled to help plan and enhance Welcome Week for incoming students!

A little bit about me—I am entering my third year of the Business Administration program, specializing in Marketing. I currently serve as a Student Union Senate Representative and am completing my second term. I am also one of the Co-Chairs for UPEI Relay for Life, where I help lead one of the university's largest student-led fundraising events in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.

In my free time, I enjoy travelling, reading, going for walks, and spending time with friends and fellow students. If you see me around campus, please don't hesitate to say hello! I am always happy to chat, answer questions, and help make your transition to UPEI a great one.

Mary Truong

Hi everyone! My name is Mary, and I am one of your 2026 Welcome Week Coordinators! I'm so excited to help make your first few weeks at UPEI memorable, fun, and maybe a little less overwhelming.

A little bit about me – I'm an international student from Vietnam entering my third year of Business Administration, specializing in Organizational Management. I'm also a minor in Psychology and am part of the Co-op Program.

When I'm not studying, you'll probably find me reading, writing, travelling, making vlogs, trying new foods, and playing the piano, guitar, or ukulele (depending on which instrument is winning my attention that day). I'm also a huge dog lover, so feel free to share your dog photos (or any other pets you have)!

If you see me around campus, don't be shy, come say hi! Whether you have questions, concerns, need directions, or just want to talk about food, travel, or dogs, I'd be happy to chat. I can't wait to meet you all and help make Welcome Week 2026 an amazing experience!
