UPEI Master in Global Affairs celebrates student success
UPEI’s Master in Global Affairs program is celebrating the success of two of its students. Denis Gaudet worked for ten weeks this summer for the Secretariat of Social and Human Development in Oaxaca, Mexico. He led a qualitative research project on indigenous communities in the country’s third poorest municipality to understand the underlying causes of poverty. In addition to this work, Gaudet participated in local and international events exploring numerous communities and cities that were rich in Mexican and indigenous culture.
Korean Movie Night
UPEI Asian Studies-Korean Studies will host the third Korean Movie Night* on October 21 (Monday), beginning at 6 pm in ICC 104. Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds (2017) will be shown in Korean with English subtitles. The film starts at 6 pm, and free light refreshments will be served from 5:30 pm. Everyone is welcome.

Panthers at Home, September 27 to 30: The Homecoming edition!
It’s Homecoming Weekend at UPEI in our 50th year! The Panthers are looking to make it a memorable one with action from UPEI’s hockey, rugby, and soccer teams.

The UPEI men’s hockey team starts Homecoming Weekend with a bang as it hosts Dalhousie University in MacLauchlan Arena A at 7 pm. Coach Forbes MacPherson says the pre-season has been important for the 2019–2020 Panthers, and he’s excited for this home opener.

Memorial Service for Fr. Charlie Cheverie
The UPEI community is invited to come together to share stories of remembrance and honour the memory of Father Charlie Cheverie, who passed away on August 31, 2019. The celebration of life will take place on Monday, September 30 at 10 am in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre. Reception to follow. All are welcome!
CBC Mainstreet celebrates UPEI's 50th
CBC Mainstreet with host Matt Rainnie will be broadcasting live from the W.A. Murphy Student Centre this Friday, September 27th, from 4 until 6 p.m. There will be lots of live guests celebrating UPEI's 50th anniversary, along with music from The Rude Mechanicals and some great prize draws.
AVC welcomes Class of 2023
The AVC Class of 2023 celebrated the commencement of their veterinary education at the 2019 AVC-CVMA Blue Coat Ceremony held at UPEI on Friday, August 23. At the ceremony, the new students were presented with blue lab coats, signifying the beginning of their four-year journey toward their doctor of veterinary medicine degrees. Hosting the ceremony were Dr. Greg Keefe, Dean of AVC; and Dr. Erin MacDonald, Prince Edward Island representative for the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) and a member of AVC’s Class of 2007.
