UPEI Labour Relations Update – University focuses on several key areas in proposal to UPEIFA

The following message was distributed by email to faculty and staff on September 1, 2022.

The University and the UPEI Faculty Association will enter into conciliation later this month, with both parties meeting with the government appointed conciliation officer. Conciliation is a normal part of the bargaining process, aimed at helping the parties achieve a negotiated collective agreement.

AVC faculty member receives recognition from the American Dairy Science Association

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island congratulates Dr. Kathryn (Katy) Proudfoot, associate professor, Department of Health Management, and director, Sir James Dunn Animal Welfare Centre, on being named the 2022 recipient of the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) Foundation’s Scholar Award in Dairy Production.  

NSO Gives Back—Food Drive in Support of the UPEI Food Bank

NSO Gives Back—Food Drive in Support of the UPEI Food Bank: Students will meet outside Dalton Hall and walk to the neighbourhood of Sherwood to collect non-perishable food items in support of the UPEI Campus Food Bank. The UPEI Panther-Mobile will escort students and help to deliver items back to campus. Thursday, September 8, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, starting outside Dalton Hall

NSO Kick-Off

NSO Kickoff, sponsored by the UPEI Alumni Association: It's finally here—NSO is kicking off the school year and the university experience at UPEI! Students will enjoy meeting other students and team members, friendly competition (for points!), fun games, and experience some of UPEI's incredible campus spirit!  Saturday, September 3, from 12:30 to 3:00 pm at UPEI Alumni Canada Games Place (track level)

NSO Student Services Fair

The NSO Student Services Fair is a campus tradeshow with UPEI's resources and support staff. Students will familiarize themselves with many of the academic, personal and community services available at UPEI, along with meeting the staff members who are here to help!  Friday, September 2, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre

Presentation about Reconceptualizing Disability in Education

The Faculty of Education invites all UPEI faculty, staff, and students to launch the new academic year with some food for thought and refreshments!

Guest speaker Dr.Luigi Iannacci will discuss his recent book, Reconceptualizing Disability in Education. Dr. Iannacci is a professor in the School of Education at Trent University and has a long connection with UPEI. The seeds of this book were planted when he worked with educators on the Island pursuing graduate studies.
