GLOW - UPEI Wind Symphony concert
Under the direction of Dr. Nicole Strum, the UPEI Wind Symphony will perform traditional and contemporary works for winds and percussion by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Ron Nelson, Ferdinand David, Joni Greene, and Joanne Harris. The concert features Jacob Reddin, trombone soloist.
Accessible parking is available, and the theatre has an accessible entrance via elevator.
UPEI Faculty of Medicine Student Information Session
All students are invited to attend an information session on the UPEI Faculty of Medicine. A presentation will be followed by a Q&A with Dr. Preston Smith, Dean of UPEI Faculty of Medicine, and representatives from admissions, clinical learning and simulation, and anatomy.
UPEI faculty member receives publication award for book
Dr. Joshua MacFadyen, Canada Research Chair in Geospatial Humanities, recently received a 2024 PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation Award for his book, Time Flies: A History of Prince Edward Island from the Air.
Dr. MacFadyen won in the category of Publication of the Year (Academic). The awards were presented at Eptek Art and Culture Centre in Summerside on March 17.
UPEI Board of Governors welcomes new members
The University of Prince Edward Island Board of Governors welcomes two new members for a three-year term: Bill Waterman and Dr. Gary Evans.
Waterman was elected by the UPEI Senate to sit on the Board of Governors, effective November 24, 2023, for three years. He is one of two faculty members appointed by the Senate. Evans was the successful candidate to be elected from all the members of the teaching staff. He is one of two faculty members selected by the teaching staff to sit on the Board for three years, effective March 5, 2024.
UPEI saddened by passing of Dr. Theresa Bernardo
UPEI is saddened by the passing of Dr. Theresa Bernardo, the first graduate student at the University, on March 13, 2024.
Dr. Bernardo graduated from the University of Guelph with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1984. In 1986, she became the first graduate student at UPEI, studying epidemiology in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine under Dr. Ian Dohoo, a world-renowned scholar and leader in the field.

The Chancellor is the volunteer, titular head of the University of Prince Edward Island and a member of the Board of Governors. The Chancellor of the University presides over convocations; confers all degrees, diplomas, and certificates; and acts as an important liaison between the University and the wider community. The Chancellor is a distinguished person who has an expressed interest in and commitment to the University and reflects its spirit, vision, and values.
