The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is seeking applications from qualified individuals to provide timely and efficient Accounts Receivable support for the UPEI Financial Services Office.  This position will report to the Assistant Manager - Research & External Receivables.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Accounts Receivable Clerk will be responsible for the following:

  • Maintaining employee, AVC and miscellaneous accounts receivable, including monthly review and analysis of account activity, follow-up, and collection of outstanding accounts and adjusting entries as required
  • Preparing invoices for a variety of University services, research projects, and items sold by the University
  • Providing information and handle inquiries in person, in writing, and via phone for clients, faculty and staff
  • Processing statements of account, preparing pre-collection and collection lists, and forwarding notices to individuals and organizations; point of contact for credit management service provider
  • Identifying and coding account payments
  • Processing internal requisitions, journal entries, account opening notices, sorting and electronic filing
  • Validating vendor banking information
  • Providing back-up support for the administrative assistant
  • Sorting and preparing coin deposits
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of a two-year post-secondary program in accounting or office related course work with related work experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting procedures and functions, specifically in relation to accounts receivable activities
  • Proven record of providing exceptional customer service
  • Excellent professional, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Detailed knowledge and experience working with computerized accounting systems, spreadsheets, and database query programs
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Experience with processing payments and cash handling
  • Experience working in a University or similar environment is an asset
