Dr. Marva Sweeney-Nixon in the Department of Biology is seeking a part-time student assistant to assist in writing a systematic review of the literature. The schedule may vary depending upon the stage of the project.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Professor and the Data Librarian, the student will:

  • Search databases for published papers
  • Score publications using Quality Criteria Checklist from the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics
  • Assist a statistician with analyzing data
  • Write summaries of the work product
  • Other related duties

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Student enrolled in a graduate program at UPEI
  • A strong background and success taking courses in physiology, nutrition, or biochemistry,
  • Documented experience with scientific writing in nutritional or biomedical fields, suitable for publication
  • Good analytical skills including reading biomedical journal articles, and performing literature searches and statistical analysis of biologic data

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
