The Dean’s Office at the Atlantic Veterinary College is currently accepting applications for a full-time Finance Officer.  This position co-reports to the Dean of the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) and the Comptroller.

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) is an exciting, fully accredited, veterinary school, and it delivers veterinary and graduate student programs. There are ~85 full-time faculty, ~250 dedicated staff (including full- and part-time) and ~55 graduate students. There are multi-million-dollar service units at AVC, including the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and Diagnostic Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide financial and business planning support to the Dean of the AVC in the preparation and oversight of the AVC budgeting processes
  • Prepare and review AVC budget reports
  • Assist in the development of new AVC budgets
  • Monitor budget performance and expenditure controls for AVC budgets
  • Calculate AVC salary and benefit projections
  • Prepare various AVC financial reconciliations and analyses with attention to details and deadlines
  • Maintain relationships with and provide guidance and support to AVC management and other members of the AVC community regarding their operating budgets.
  • Produce AVC revenue and expenditure reports
  • Prepare various financial reports for external AVC stakeholders
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of financial opportunities for the multi-million-dollar service units at AVC
  • Work with the Comptroller’s Office staff to ensure AVC compliance and consistency with University Financial policies and procedures.
  • Work with the Comptroller’s Office staff in providing oversight of AVC internal controls
  • Other duties related to the business activities of the AVC

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA designation with an Undergraduate degree in Business
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detailed knowledge of and advanced experience in working with computerized accounting systems, spreadsheets, and database software
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – verbal and written
