The Manager of Research and Community Outreach at the Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation will oversee the day-to-day functioning of the facility.

The Manager will be responsible for fostering outreach, engaging with the PEI community, managing the daily operations at the Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation in St. Peters, producing relevant reports, working with communications to publicize accomplishments, and supporting financial and business planning for the Centre.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the daily operations of the Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation which includes oversight of staff
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and management of annual Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation budgets, and provide reports as needed
  • Manage the organization of facility events such as receptions, meetings, and symposia for the Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation
  • Support researchers supervising community outreach projects with project planning and oversight
  • Provide guidance to researchers supervising community outreach projects regarding research services, processes, and requirements
  • Collaborate with the office of Commercialization, Industry, and Innovation to secure partners and manage community outreach partnerships
  • Work with the Research Contracts Officer to support contract development and execution to ensure community outreach projects comply with university processes
  • Work with the Manager of Research Services to oversee processes to administer compliance & reporting for community outreach projects
  • Organize meetings of the Community Outreach Advisory Board as directed by the Co-chairs and present updates at meetings

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
  • Graduate degree would be an asset
  • 5 years administrative experience preferably in a university or government setting
  • Effective organizational, problem-solving, planning, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated superior communication skills with a proven ability to hold dialogues with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • A proven ability to listen to needs and concerns and build confidence with stakeholders through follow-up actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to present to and converse with stakeholders including Community Outreach Advisory Board members
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise reports to a variety of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability and experience to work effectively with representatives from public, private and community sectors
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills
  • Excellent analytical reasoning, organizational, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills
  • Superior computer/technical skills including Windows/Macintosh, Windows 365, Power Point etc.
