Student Assistants (Up to 3 Positions) - Robertson Library
$12.85 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Successful applicants will learn how an academic library's Service Desk operates through involvement in a wide range of library routines and workflows, including: signing out and checking in resources, re-shelving resources, responding to directional, technical support, and library-related questions on the phone and in-person, and other duties as required
- Successful applicants will have the opportunity to assist library patrons in the use of hardware and software technology such as Windows PCs and Macs, printers, scanners, Microsoft Office applications, Google Apps for Education (eg. Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets), wireless connectivity, campus- supported web services such as Moodle, multimedia equipment and document and microfilm scanners/readers
- Successful candidates will help monitor and actively contribute to social media accounts for the Robertson Library including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube
- Successful candidates will also participate in the basic maintenance of these products and services and will assist library staff with projects as assigned and other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants are expected to provide high quality customer service and should highlight their experience and knowledge in previous roles
- Comfortable working with the public and working within a team environment
- Must be able to work independently with attention to detail and strong time management skills
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have knowledge of the Robertson Library and experience using social media tools
- Must be able to understand and apply library policies
- Able to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy
- Professional attitude and demeanor
- Money handling ability
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Physical ability to handle heavy library materials, books, carts, etc. and to stand for extended periods of time
