Sessional Instructor - Department of English - Faculty of Arts - Winter 2027

The Department of English invites applications for the position of Sessional Instructor to teach one (1) section of English 3920 (Creative Writing II) in the Winter Semester of the 2026-27 academic year.
This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.
ENGLISH 3920 – CREATIVE WRITING II
This advanced workshop in creative writing provides students with the opportunity to develop further their proficiency in writing fiction, poetry, drama, or creative non-fiction. Students produce new material and revise work-in-progress, and present these manuscripts to the workshop. Class time is devoted to discussion of students’ manuscripts and published texts and to strategies and structures involved in writing them.
PREREQUISITE: English 2120 and/or permission of instructor.
Three hours per week.
Qualifications:
Applicants for this position should have a PhD in English and a significant publishing record of poetry, fiction, and/or writing for children and young adults. Applicants should possess significant experience teaching creative writing at the post-secondary level. Applicants should possess the ability to evaluate and edit student writing. The ability to mentor emerging writers will be an asset.
