A research assistant position is available for an undergraduate engineering student with interest in the development of re-usable masks. The objective of this project is to develop processes for rapid design, development and manufacturing of personalized re-usable N95-level masks. The student will work under the supervision of Drs. Ali Ahmadi, Grant McSorely and Nicholas Krouglicof, and will receive training in the areas of rapid prototyping, rheological characterization and medical instrumentation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The students will work on the following tasks:

  • Test a wide range of materials including silicone with varying Shore numbers (30-70) to achieve the required flexibility and seal
  • Develop methods for fabrication of casts according to the 3D scan of an individual’s headform

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience with Solidworks, 3D printing and proficiency in technical writing is required
