The UPEI Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Office, operating under the Vice President Academic and Research and the Vice President Administration and Finance, is looking to hire an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Employment Systems Advisor. The University is working to implement best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in accordance with the University’s strategic planning in this area. This position will be working primarily in the areas of equity, diversity and inclusion within employment systems and research administration practices. The role is central to the University’s efforts to implement actions to reduce barriers that may be experienced by historically or structurally disadvantaged groups. The position will report to the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement actions identified in the UPEI Canada Research Chairs Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Action Plan under the direction of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer, and consultation with the Vice-President Academic and Research and Vice-President Administration and Finance
  • Assist the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer with integrating best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion into current operations and establishing future practices. Reviewing confidential employment information and confidential consultation feedback to ensure diverse experiences are considered in the implementation of process changes
  • Develop materials related to employment processes, that are designed to remove barriers and biases experienced by disadvantaged groups
  • Develop training materials and resources for faculty and staff to build greater understanding and awareness of equity, diversity and inclusion principles

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
  • Master’s degree in a related field is considered an asset
  • Minimum three years related experience
  • Lived experience or expertise in diversity and inclusion an asset
  • Substantive knowledge of equity, diversity and inclusion principles including systemic discrimination
  • Experience with initiatives related to eliminating discrimination
  • Ability to identify systemic discrimination within systems and provide solutions
  • Experience with workplace equity initiatives an asset
  • Knowledge of complex employment systems, recruitment and hiring practices an asset
  • Experience working with collective agreements an asset
  • Experience developing training materials an asset
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with confidential and sensitive materials
  • Adept at working across departments and functions
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office products (Word, PowerPoint)
  • Basic knowledge of adding content to websites using Moodle, SharePoint, MyUPEI or similar an asset
