A student research assistant position is available for a student researcher to build and commission a custom-designed wind tunnel for environmental testing. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The student will work with an interdisciplinary team to complete the build of a custom-designed wind tunnel
  • The student will participate in the design of K-12 outreach activities using the novel wind tunnel, 3D printing, and engineering to integrate themes of sustainability, diversity, and inclusion
  • Coupled with CFD (computational fluid dynamics) and simulation of wind, rain, and marine-air conditions, using lab-scale design and testing, the aerodynamics of wind turbine blades as related to efficiency will be examined

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good academic record and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Proficiency in interpersonal and written communication is required
  • Experience in CFD is required
  • Previous experience with engineering design is an asset
  • Interest in Additive Manufacturing and Sustainable Energy Systems is an asset
