Student Research Assistant - School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences - Faculty of Science
$17.60 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay
July 1 – October 1, 2025
Dr. Pouya Faroughi of the School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences is seeking a part-time student research assistant to contribute to a research project focused on advanced data science methodologies and predictive analytics. This role involves complex data analysis tasks, including the development and implementation of predictive models using R. The project aims to derive actionable insights from large datasets, requiring a strong foundation in statistical modeling and programming.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct complex data analyses using R, including advanced statistical modeling and machine learning techniques
- Develop and implement algorithms to process and interpret large datasets
- Collaborate with the research team to design experiments and analyze results
- Prepare comprehensive reports and visualizations to communicate findings effectively
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a current UPEI student
- Strong proficiency in R programming and experience with data visualization tools
- Preference will be given to candidates with a strong academic record, including grades above 90% in data science or statistics-related courses
- Ability to work independently and contribute original insights to the research project
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
