Dr. Kathy Snow is seeking up to two (2) Graduate Research Assistants to support the research project “Effective Educators for successful students: an investigation of the preparation and resiliency of northern educators. The successful candidate must be willing to work at a distance with research co-investigators based in Ontario and Manitoba.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate communication and meetings between research team members by email or phone support research related requests of team members
  • Read, analyze and summarize sources in relation to research questions, likely using a template/guidance, such as preparation of literature reviews
  • Create and maintain the reference list for research team
  • Prepare University and regional ethics applications
  • Coordinate timelines and tasks as outlined by project leads.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor
  • Ensure the smooth running of the multi-faceted project

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate program at UPEI, with preference given to Master of Education Students
  • Highly organized, with ability to monitor multiple project timelines concurrently
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, once times and objectives are made clear based on research team needs
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely in English for academic purposes, and adjust writing based on mentoring and editing from supervisor
  • Skilled at attending to detail in research and writing
  • Ability to organize information using a provided template in Microsoft Word or Excel
  • May be asked to provide a writing sample
  • Ability to synthesize and summarize information from multiple sources to make accurate and representative claims
  • Past experience in Education/educational research
  • Ability to speak and read Inuktut, considered an asset
  • Successful research project coordination of own or others research, considered an asset

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
