The Department of History and Classics invites applications for Sessional Instructors to teach the following courses during Winter 2020. This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.

HIST3860 Women’s Rights in 20th Century Canada (cross listed as Diversity and Social Justice Studies 3860)

This course examines the experiences of women in 20th-Century Canadian society viewed through the prism of law and civil rights. Topics of study include the struggle for the right to vote, the Persons Case, efforts to secure equality in the workplace, the regulation of sexuality and reproduction, and the particular experiences of immigrant and Indigenous women in relation to civil rights.

Successful applicants should have a minimum of a Master’s degree in History or a related discipline, and teaching and/or research experience that addresses the history of contemporary Canadian women’s rights.

Qualified applicants on the UPEI Sessional Roster of the Department of History will be given priority.
