Student Research Assistant - School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences - Faculty of Science
$17.60 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay
May 12 – August 15, 2025
Dr. Ben Cameron and Dr. Shannon Fitzpatrick of the School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences are seeking a student research assistant to work on a research project in graph theory, focused on a limited-information graph searching model.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct a literature review on related graph searching problems to explore key developments in the field
- Apply knowledge from Combinatorics, Graph Theory, and other related courses, to develop new results
- Utilize computing skills to test conjectures on graphs of high order
- Produce a high-quality report using the LaTeX document preparation system
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a current UPEI student
- A strong record in the Mathematical and Computational Sciences
- Completion of MATH 2420 Combinatorics I or an equivalent course
- Completion of CS 1910 Computer Science I or an equivalent course
- Completion of MATH 3710 Graph Theory is an asset
- A willingness to explore new ideas, work independently, and contribute original insights
