Tenure Track Position - Educational Leadership - Faculty of Education
The Faculty of Education at the University of Prince Edward Island welcomes applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, pending budgetary approval. We are seeking a new colleague with expertise, a research focus, and teaching experience in Educational Leadership and at least one other subject domain.
The incumbent for this position will teach in the Bachelor and Master of Education programs. Service, such as committee work, to the Faculty of Education and the University will be expected. A valid driver’s license is required.
The Faculty of Education at the University of Prince Edward Island is a small, vibrant team of educators committed to developing compassionate, collaborate, and innovative teachers with a goal of building just and equitable relationships in local and global communities. The Faculty offers 12-month Bachelor of Education programs in English and in French Education. Students have the option to specialize in Indigenous, International, Adult, and Early Years Education. Our BEd programs have a strong focus on issues pertaining to diversity, equity, and social justice in local and global communities. At the graduate level, the Faculty offers a certificate program focused on educational leadership in Nunavut which is a partnership with the Department of Education, Government of Nunavut. We also offer a Master of Education degree in Leadership and Learning in both course-based and thesis-based streams delivered in online and in-person formats. In addition, we offer a PhD in Educational Studies involving in-person classes during students’ year of residency.
Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will hold a doctoral degree in education or be near completion. A Bachelor of Education degree and a successful record of school teaching in the K-12 context are essential. The ideal candidate will have expertise, university teaching experience and continued academic interest in Educational Leadership. Experience in a university context and/or educational leadership at the school or system level will be strong assets. Preferred applicants will have experience in online teaching and engaging students effectively in online environments. A sound understanding of contemporary critical issues in educational leadership is required. In addition, qualifications and experience in teaching English as an additional Language (EAL) and/or adult learners whose first language is not English would be an asset.
