Dr. Kenneth MacKinnon is looking for a graduate student to assist with a project which explores new conceptions of educational leadership. This research explores the perceptions and lived experiences of international students in our MEd program within the Faculty of Education and how these elements intersect with how they perceive leadership. This project involves the administration of a survey as well as co-facilitating a session where students will be asked to explore their leadership identity through the creation of a collage. This opportunity is open to all graduate students however preference will be given to international students. Experience with visual arts is also a benefit.

The primary activities of the successful candidate will involve administering a survey, visiting classes to share details of the project, and co-facilitating a session in which participants will create a collage.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Visit classes to share details of the research project and invite students to participate in the leadership session
  • Assist with the collection and analysis of data
  • Co-facilitate the leadership session (Collage making)
  • Co-author a conference paper as well as research papers for publication
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate program at UPEI
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely in English for academic purposes, and adjust writing based on mentoring and editing from supervisor
  • Skilled at attending to detail in research and writing
  • Interest in educational leadership
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in arts-based research
  • Ability to coordinate the leadership session i.e. purchase of materials, room bookings, refreshments, contacting participants

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
